For me, the Miata lacks passion in the design - it doesn't inspire,...

It has classic Japanese styling, if you like that kind of thing. But I agree, uninspiring design. The previous gen Miata was better looking by a mile. The Fiat version is 20 times better looking...but they ruined it with that utterly pathetic engine.

So you can have a generic looking car with floppy suspension and barely moderate engine, or a pretty car with good suspension and the worst engine imaginable. Both losers.

I must say the Fiat 124 looks awesome, I do like it, perfect little weekend roadster, apparently the Mazda is superior all around except interior styling, its more economical but who cares if its a weekend car ?

I've looked at the Mazda, sat, drove etc, its nice and modern but IMHO the Fiat will be more appreciated by older guys like ourselves, besides the little 1.4 turbo charged engine it looks more old school, I'd probably go for the Fiat.

    cheers

As is currently the custom in Alfa and Maserati to chop up Ferrari V8 designs (dropping cylinders etc.) for their cars, they need to chop a Ferrari V8 in half, giving us a killer inline 4 with 250 HP for this sucker!

I saw one in PA last week. Great looking car. Saw a Miata after and it's not a close call, IMO, even though the Miata looks okay.
